Product: BabySonic Personal Ultrasound Doppler
Price: £170
Tester: Joanne (30 weeks pregnant)
Testing time: Just over a month
This Doppler comes with everything you need to use it - a little earpiece and a tube of BabySonic gel. On my first attempt I managed to find my babys heart straight away which did surprise me as I expected to have a bit of trouble.
The actual display is very easy to understand and the sound is very clear. All in all, very reassuring and very simple to use.
I have been using the BabySonic a couple of times a day, morning and at bedtime and it has been fantastic. It is such a reassuring feeling to be able to listen to the baby whenever I feel like it. (I have suffered three miscarriages in the past so I get very paranoid if I dont feel enough movements etc.) The BabySonic picks up the babys heartbeat very clearly, it is easy to see if you have picked up your own heartbeat or the babys due to the digital display, which does make it a great deal easier to use. The babys heartbeat always seems to be around 140 beats per minute, which is perfect.
It has also been wonderful to be able to share the experience with both my husband and children. My husband has even managed to record the heartbeat, and store it on the computer, so that we can keep it for ever. Its a brilliant way of keeping the dad involved as they can so often feel pushed out. As my husband cant attend the Antenatal appointments with me, due to being at work, it has allowed him to be able to share in the fun of being able to listen to our baby in the comfort of our own home.
If anyone was thinking of getting a Doppler, I would thoroughly recommend it. Even just for the sake of your sanity. I must say though, that I would possibly think twice about buying one, due to the fact that they are rather expensive. I personally would rent a Doppler for a few months.
Best feature: The digital read out of the heart rate
Worst feature: The price
Verdict: I found the BabySonic to be an excellent product, extremely simple to use and it comes very highly recommended. I would not hesitate to use one again, if I was to have another baby. I really brilliant idea and a must for all mums to be.
